I've just seen the following in the folder pane:
newsgroupname -478 332
couldn't there be a simple check that unread number of posting should not be
able to become negative. So just show 0 in the folderpane. Perhaps we could show
something in the log but dont show negative values in the UI.

Changing the UI to display 0 seems like wallpapering over a problem. How is the
unread count becoming negative? Integer overflow, bad logic?
