This bug is about one of the suggested workarounds given in Bug 25537 to the
decision to not offer as an option the display of alt text as a tooltip when
there is no title attribute. In the attachment for that bug,
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=124200&action=view , one of the
suggested workarounds is to use the Element Properties popup. However, for long
alt texts, such as that on the URL I gave, trying to read the alt text is very
problematic. Making the alt text wrap in the Element Properties popup would
improve the readabilitity of long alt textx such as this.
(Note: I disagree with the decision reached in Bug 25537, but that is clearly is
a matter of opinion and I am not trying to flog that dead horse here.)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right click and select "Properties" on any element with a long alt text.
Actual Results:
The alt text was presented as one long line which could not be seen on one
screen even when the resulting Element Properties popup was widened to the width
of my screen. Trying to read it was possible by clicking an the line and
scrolling, butcontrolling the scroll is very difficult
Expected Results:
A more readable presentation of the alt text should have been provided.
Ideally, it would require no further user interaction to the alt text.

This problem also affects long text strings for the title attitribute in both
the Element Properties window and also in the "tool tip" that appears when the
cursor is over an image. In the latter case, the box displaying the text is
over the image. If the image is at the right edge of the page, the text may be
truncated. The display box should shift left on the page to display the
entire text, with word wrapping if necessary.
For an example of this latter problem, see my
<http://www.rossde.com/Canada_trip/Vancouver_Montreal.html>. Scroll down a bit
more than half way, to the 11 August entry. Then put the cursor over the
locomotive graphic. The complete title text should read: "select this image for
photos of the 2nd leg of our train trip across Canada (download = 99.7 KB)".

I think a possible solution to this, besides making it word wrap, would be
making the browser remember the size of the box when you close it. This can't be
too hard to implement, as lots of other dialog boxes remember their size on close.
