the attachment window always displays larger than the message header bar,
dropping into the (white) message area. if the rec'd message has a lot
of attachments, such that the list extends into the 'message' area, i cannot
select the attachment. for fewer than 6 attachments this is not a problem,
for any number greater than this, i must use the attachment scroll bar to bring
the attachment name above the message area to select it. this works, but i cannot
scroll the last attachment up into this area & have to do an 'edit as new'
then delete all but the last couple of attachments, then resend the message to
myself to retrieve these attachments.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.described in details
2.
3.
Actual Results:
described in details
Expected Results:
either:
a) collapse attachment panel to match message header panel size
or
b) allow selection of attachments in the attachment panel that cannot be
scrolled up into the message header panel area
here is a uuencoded screenshot of my mail frame. notice the blue attachment panel
extends below the message header panel. this is the trouble area.
never mind, can't attach. let me know if you want to see it.

Lars Anderson, is this bug still a problem for you? Your description is not
very clear; a screenshot would be appreciated if still a problem.
The perhaps-related bug 122180 has been fixed in 1.7, so please be sure you have
upgraded.

i am running 1.7a & it is still a problem.
see the gray area protruding down. i can wheelmouse the scroll
bar in the attachment pane into invisibility, (as shown), and
the last entry is partially occluded. it used to be i could
not select the last entry, but i think that is possible now.
(i'll double check). if i don't have an attachment window scroll-bar - and if
there are exactly a full window full of attachments, the display
vibrates while that message is being displayed.

Confirming based on screenshot.
The vibrating list of attachments sounds like the old problem with a vibrating
list of messages, bug 201379. Bug 218453 was entered as a lower-level handler
for that problem. But you shouldn't be seeing this at all!

forget the vibration thing. yes, i am mixing up this bug with an unrelated
annoyance. the vibration is, as you say, in the message list pane, NOT the
attachment pane.
also, what i said in my last message about 'the last entry is partially
occluded' is incorrect - there are TWO more attachments below the name that is
partially occluded. the only way to save those is to do a 'save all' or to
do the method of deleting some attachments & resending in my original description.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.2pre) Gecko/2008070701 SeaMonkey/2.0a1pre
WFM. Attachment pane does not overshoot the message header bar anymore.
If you want to REOPEN, mention in which _current_ build you see the bug.
