User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 I can select the menu which configures the junk mail controls; however when I mark the changes I want on the menu and attempt to select the "OK" button, nothing happens. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. select "TOOLS -> Junk Mail Controls..." 2. select check box for "Move incoming messages determined to be junk mail..." 3. select a folder within my mailbox from the line that says "Other" 4. select check box for "When I manually mark messages as Junk" 5. select "OK" button Actual Results: The dialog box stays on the screen and will not go away until I select "Cancel" Expected Results: Close the dialog box and put the filter settings into effect.
The comments I made on bug 221415 more correctly apply to this bug.
still appears in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040316 (running on WinXP) It seems as a cross-platform bug (or at least Windows*), I'll check it on Linux ASAP. Maybe severity should be raised - what for is all that junk-mail-recognition stuff, if one eventually cannot use it.
Seems to be OK on Linux (the same release as for WinXP) Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040316 Maybe it is a Windows* bug only then.
Hi, This is exactly my problem. I am new to this site. If I make this comment will I get added to list of people who will be notified when a solution is added? I just migrated to Thunderbird from Mozilla 1.73. Migration seemed to go flawlessly. Great job. I have XP Home with SP 2 installed. Looking forward to help as I want to be able to start using the junk mail controls. Thank you, Ken Anderson
(In reply to comment #4) Ken Anderson, see Bug 213300. Isn't it your problem? > If I make this comment will I get added to list of people > who will be notified when a solution is added? No. Put your email address in "CC: list" thru "Add CC:" field. (In reply to comment #0 and comment #2) Don Moldover(bug opener) and eterph@centrum.cz, does problem still exist? If yes, have you read Steven Azar's Bug 221415 Comment #2 mentioned in Comment #1? Isn't your problem same as Bug 213300 or Bugs listed in it?
I'm having the same problem. I want to change my junk mail constrols to empty the junk folder every 7 days instead of 14, but nothing happens when I click OK. (It worked fine before though) I think this bug is really serious since the junk mail controls are one of the features that are most often mentioned in tb promotion. I'm using tb 1.0 on WinXP by the way. Also, the bug summary should be changed to someting like "Cannot change Junk Mail Controls settings"
do any errors appear on the javascript console when you do this? Tools | javascript console, if you have the js console installed.
Hi, I had to discontinue testing of Thunderbird because I could not get synch to work with Palm Tungsten E. I was very disappointed that Thunderbird does not seem to offer function for PDA support like Mozilla does, e.g., to start or stop synch to Address Book. Ken
I found a workaround! In the Whitelists section, if "Do not mark..." is selected, then the user needs to select an item (usually "Collected Addresses") in the drop-down box. Do that, and the OK button works as expected. So, to fix this bug, what really needs to happen is the drop-down box needs to be modified so that there is always a valid selection. BTW, this is the item in the JavaScript Console that clued me in: Error: document.getElementById("whiteListAbURI").selectedItem has no properties Source File: chrome://messenger/content/junkMail.js Line: 171 Hope this helps.
(In reply to comment #7) > do any errors appear on the javascript console when you do this? Tools | > javascript console, if you have the js console installed. I am experiencing this behaviour in newly installed versions of Thunderbird, including 1.0.7, 1.5beta, and 1.5 (20051201). I see the following errors on the JavaScript console, once for each time I press the "OK" button: Error: document.getElementById("whiteListAbURI").selectedItem has no properties Source File: chrome://messenger/content/junkMail.js Line: 240 Then when I exit (using "Cancel") I get an information mession No chrome package registered for chrome://editor-region/locale/region.properties . which may, or may not, be related to the error. Do you still see this problem using a current version (thunderbird or SM, doesn't matter what you are currently using)?
Not anymore. IIRC at least from the time Junk mail preferences has been moved to "Mail & Newsgroups Settings" under appropriate accounts.
reporters address is dead WFM per comment 13 (peter was running 2.0.0.2 )
