It had no sender, receiver, subject text, body text, or source code. The date given for its arrival was 12/31/1969 7:00pm EST. Whenever I deleted it, if I closed Thunderbird and reopened it, the email would reappear. The only way I was able to get rid of it permanently was to move all other emails to another folder, delete the inbox file, and then move all my emails back. I think it may have had something to do with the inbox file being bloated, but I can't be sure. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. Delete a lot of emails from the Inbox 2. 3. Actual Results: Thunderbird created an empty email that wouldn't go away. Expected Results: Not created the empty email

I'm not sure what caused it, but I have seen the blank email in some circumstances as you've described. I was able to delete it though like any other email. This is on Thunderbird 1.0 on XP SP2.

I had this problem and went to bugzilla and saw someone already openened a case (Bug 226041) so I thought it would maybe be usefull to add this screenshot, after deleting this "new" mail from the wastebin, and restarting thunderbird the email is back (before thunderbird was able to check for new mails)
