Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031119 Firebird/0.7+
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031119 Firebird/0.7+

When XUL error pages are enabled (browser.xul.error_pages.enabled = true) they
do not create a new back-button history entry when they are displayed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. enable XUL error pages (browser.xul.error_pages.enabled = true)
2. click on a link that generates an error page (connection refused, etc)
3. click the back button
Actual Results:
The page previous to the page containing the link with an error (the
"grandparent" of the erroring link) is displayed.

If the page with the erroring link (the erroring link's "parent") was the first
page, the back button is grayed out and does nothing.

Expected Results:
The erroring link's "parent" page should be displayed instead of its "grandparent".

The XUL error page does not actually replace the "parent" page in the history.
If one hits the back button and then hits the forward button, the "parent" page
is correctly displayed.
Dupe of bug 157004 or bug 8345?
After reviewing bug 157004 this is more of an opposite rather than a dupe, but
it is related. I realize now that the bug I should have filed would be titled
"HTML error pages provide no clean method of returning to the parent page".

I will file that bug now. This bug should be closed.
