there is a slim blue bar between the browser window and the "my panels" window. clicking the bar hides the "my panels", another click reopens "my panels". whichever panel entry is open when the panel is hidden does not refresh when the panel is clicked open. open another panel entry and the first works again, but click on the one that was open when the panel was hidden and nothing happens. looks like the window is just not refreshing. for instance. i almost always have "bookmarks" displayed. when i hide the panel and then reopen it bookmarks are NOT displayed. i click open "weather" and then again "bookmarks" and the bookmarks display. vice versa if weather is open when i hide "my panels".

Summary: my panels display doesn't refresh in m12 → Last viewed panel blank and inactive on sidebar re-display
Confirmed exactly as reported with 1999-12-28-08-M13 on Windows NT 4.0sp3, for all 3 default panels. This looks like it is blocking testing of bug 19276 "Related Links folder should be opened when opening sidebar panel", ASSIGNED, M16 - so long as nothing appears under "What's Related" on re-displaying the Sidebar after closing it with "What's Related" showing, persistence of the state of that panel is unverifiable and moot. So this bug probably needs to be fixed first. Changing Component from "Browser-General" to "Sidebar"; assigning to that component for further determinations. Changing summary from "my panels display doesn't refresh in m12" to "Last viewed panel blank and inactive on sidebar re-display"
steve, I think this is a dup of bug 18406?
Quoting from bug 18406 "Sidebar Content doesn't show immediately after customize": >selmer said he is having the same problem on start-up, not just after removing >a panel. If this is reproducible, severity should be upped. This does look like a DUP of 18406, and based on the comment above and what was reported here, it looks like the summary for bug 18406 should be changed to remove the words "after customize".

the problem doesn't happen on start-up, but does happen when you open and close the sidebar. marking as a dup, though this bug has some good info *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 18406 ***
