User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.5.1) Gecko/20031120 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.5.1) Gecko/20031120 When clicking on a webpage link to a PDF document, Mozilla throws up a dialogue asking how to handle this type of file. Using "Default Application" for this file type, PDF files open with OS X's "Preview". I tried configuring "Helper Applications" to "Open it with:" Mozilla.app. When clicking on a link such as: http://www.creativepro.com/jump?jump=www.creativepro.com/img/story/062703_retouching.pdf ...Mozilla begins generating a continuous stream of blank browser windows. In the location field for every new window I see: file:///Users/patrickmartin/Desktop/062703_retouching-1.pdf "Command + ." or tapping the "Escape" key will stop the generation of new browser windows. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In Mozilla prefs---»Navigator---»Helper Applications, highlight "applications/pdf" 2. Edit the action to be taken when encountering PDF files by clicking on the "Open it with" radio button. 3. Click "Choose..." and navigate to Mozilla.app. 4. Close Mozilla preferences. 5. Click on a link to a PDF file. Actual Results: Exactly as described, in the "Details" field, above. Expected Results: Mozilla should have used the installed Acrobat Reader plugin to render the PDF file in a New Window or optionally, a New Tab.
> Using "Default Application" for this file type, PDF files open with OS X's > "Preview". Which means that Mozilla is not seeing a PDF plugin anywhere. Check the plugin information under the Help menu to make sure, of course. So since Mozilla has no plugin for PDF it will use a helper app. If you set Mozilla itself to be that helper app, you get an infinite loop as you describe (a known issue...)
