Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a long message into a standalone message window. 2. Scroll down the message. 3. Wait for a retrieval by Thunderbird of a new message from a mailserver. Actual Results: Message displayed in the standalone message window moves back to the top of the message from the position it was scrolled down to. Expected Results: The message in the standalone message window should _not_ move an iota on the receipt of a new message from a mailserver. This behavior has only been observed on a Windows-build of Thunderbird. Further tests, to see if this behavior is replicated in the Linux-build, will be forthcoming.

Confirming on Win2k with build 20031223

The same bug has been observed on Thunderbird's Linux-build (20031205).

I use Windows XP Home Edition. I have observed the same phenomenon (several times) when viewing long e-mails in the message window within Thunderbird (i.e., no standalone message window even being used).

Yeah, 220173 looks like a dupe of this bug. The only difference I can see is that instead of the preview pane, this happens in the standalone message window. Other than that, it looks the same.
