Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040113
I just upgraded from 1.5 to 1.6. Following this my summary files were all
rebuilt (see bug 231735). During one of these processes messages previously
marked with the Junk icon, in my Junk folder, lost their Junk icons.
Possibly related to bug 231735 (many messages became marked as unread at the
same time) although these junk messages were not imported from Outlook.
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6.
2. Rebuild summary files.
Actual Results:
Messages previously marked as Junk lost their marking. (Also many messages
previously marked as Read became marked as Unread.)
Expected Results:
Junk and Read marking should have been preserved.

1.5 had a bug where the junk status was not stored in the x-mozilla-status2
line. Outlook import also had a bug where the x-mozilla-status line wasn't added
to imported messages (which is why you lost your read state). Both these bugs
are fixed.

David, newer Mozilla will recover from no Junk staus in x-mozilla-status2 or no
x-mozilla-status2 in Junk folder automatically?
Or users have to mark as "Junk" again manually even after fix of bugs?
For no x-mozilla-status2 mails imported from Outlook, Mozilla will add
x-mozilla-status2 line on marking as "Junk" after fix of bugs?
Also lost on upgrade from Moz 1.6 to 1.7b (on WinXP Pro).
I 'upgraded' by creating a new profile for Moz 1.7b and manually copying over
the mail files.
I can confirm this. I used 1.5, 1.6, 1.7rc1, 1.7 and I marked some junk messages
every day. Now, the daylight change occured and the junk flags are lost (see bug
136049). So, I had some messages correctly marked under 1.6-1.7 without the bug
mentioned in comment 1. Why are the flags lost? When looking into the mbox file,
I see no difference between a message marked as junk and a non-junk one, judging
from the x-mozilla-status2 line.

The loss of junk mail status on rebuilding summary files appears to be a
duplicate of bug 195737. Rebuilding of summary files on upgrade may be intended.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.
The latest beta releases can be obtained from:
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/
Thunderbird: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/releases/1.5beta1.html
Seamonkey: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/
So isn't this a dupe of bug 195737? The original report mentions an upgrade from
1.5 to 1.6, which caused a rebuild of msf files. But if the flags are stored
correctly in the mbox files, any rebuild shouldn't loose the indications.
Therefore that seems to be the main problem.
