RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 239175

Details

User-Agent:
Build Identifier:

Hitting Tab from the URL entry cycles focus to the Search entry, then to the document as a whole,
then back to the URL entry. Focus should cycle through the entries in the document, or if "Full
Keyboard Navigation" is selected in the Mac OS X preferences it should cycle through all controls
and probably all links.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open any page containing input fields that doesn't force focus to a specific field, or open any
page containing input fields and then select the URL entry in the browser.
2.Hit Tab three times.
Actual Results:
Focus cycled through the URL entry, the search entry, and the "document as a whole".

Expected Results:
Focus should have shifted to the first input field in the document.

address bar -> search -> document as a whole -> text fields in page.
One problem I run into is that when the focus is cycled to 'document as a
whole', sometimes I need to click in the document to be able to use
'find-as-you-type'. In this regard, I'm a bit fuzzy as to where the keyboard
focus is at this point, and/or if find-as-you-type has the same understanding of
this focus.

One example of this is http://www.ibm.com/us ; hit tab a couple times, watch the
highlight go from address bar to search bar then disappear; then hit /note (to
search for 'Notebook finder'). The 'Starting--find text as you type' shows up
at the bottom of the window, but nothing ever gets highlighted. Clicking in the
page and then typing '/note' does the trick, though.

If this should be filed separately, please let me know and I'll do so. Thanks
for an excellent product -- nice and zippy.
