I would greatly apreceate an option to turn this behavior off. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Thunderbird 2. If you do not already have one, set an email signature 3. Create a new email message Actual Results: "--" appears above my email signature. Expected Results: No "--" should appear if this option is set.

We also have seen this. We have employees who would like to be able to remove the se two dashs from being added to their signature line.

I know the Mozilla project uses the voting mechanism for attracting attention to certain bugs but since I don't know if Thunderbird uses that I would just like to throw my desire for this feature in as well.
