Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.download some new news headers but do not read them. Go offline. 2.set the pref user_pref("mailnews.nav_crosses_folders", 0); 3.maybe restart Moz? 4.view a normal mail message in the standalone message window (double click) 5.press Next icon until a news message is displayed, that has its body not available (the explanation text should appear). Actual Results: The window still shows the header (sender, date) of the last normal mail message displayed. Expected Results: The header space should be hidden - in the same way as doubleclicking on an unavailable news message would do.

I can still reproduce on the latest thunderbird 2.0.0.16 on linux. It is a minor glitch, but can mislead the user as to which message is actually not available. He may think the body of the email message just disappeared.

Yes I could, but I have no usable news server. Can you tell me the new address for the mozilla newsgroups?
Sure : news.mozilla.org
I tested this in 'Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3pre) Gecko/20090801 Shredder/3.0b4pre'. I am not sure what the results are... When I view a normal email message in the standalone window (actually a tab now), it is fine. Now going to the next unread message ('n' key) prompts 'Advance to next unread message in mozilla.announce.prerelease?' which is correct, this is my next 'folder' that has unread messages. Their bodies are not downloaded for offline use. Answering 'No' does nothing. Answering 'Yes' closes the message tab thus returning me to the folder tree pane. That is strange. So, it actually doesn't exhibit the bug as described, but has a new bug - it doesn't go to the next unread message. Or did I do anything incorrectly?
presently, I can't get to newsgroup from standalone message with F or N using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091117 Thunderbird/3.0

That bug would be exhibited in bug 545218.
Depends on: 545218
