User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040206 Firefox/0.8

As much as I detest IE on the Mac for it's continuous crashing and voracious
appetite for destroying cookies at random, I continue to use it for one reason.
Tabbing. When making airline reservations, loggin bugs at work, etc. I need to
be able to quickly navigate a page, and having tabbing support skip all
comboboxes and listboxes renders Firefox totally useless to me (otherwise I like
it quite a bit).

Also, some comboboxes have so many items it is helpful to be able to type "su"
to get to "Susan", than type "S" and press the down arrow many times until you
get to "Susan". Again, another feature keeping me using IE on Mac.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. browse to a page with comboboxes and text fields
2. place your IP in a text field and press tab until you reach a combobox
3. whoops! tabbing doesn't stop on comboboxes:(

1. select a combobox with many items
2. try to type more than one letter to select an item (e.g. "su")
3. this doesn't work and it would be lovely if it did

Actual Results:
nothing, that is the problem.

Expected Results:
1. tabbing should stop on comboboxes and select them
2. pressing more than one letter should select that item in the combobox
I swear I looked for duplicate first, but I didn't see anything.
This is an excellent idea, and has been on my wishlist too. But I think it *may*
belong in browser. Does anyone know if we have forked code for this?

This works exactly as desired on my nightly trunk Firefox on Windows 2000
(Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8a) Gecko/20040512
Firefox/0.8.0+). I have a feeling that this might be a Mac-only issue.
Both tabbing and incremental search WFM using Firefox 0.8 on Windows.
One of the bugs regarding these issues is bug 150590, which is fixed now.
for mac, also see bug 223328 and bug 239175 --since (by default) tabbing only
goes to textfields in web content on Mac, could that be the issue you're running
into?

By changing accessibility.tabfocus to 7 you can select comboboxes using the tab
key.
