User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040207 Firefox/0.8 Build Identifier: I generally keep the browser set to "Simple HTML" for security reasons. That is, if I click on a piece of SPAM by accident or to delete it, etc., I don't want the images loaded by default. But, several times a day I get a piece of HTML mail with images that I actually want to see. Evolution, for instance, has a delay-image-loading feature where you can then, for an individual message, say "ok, load these images". A similar feature in Thunderbird would be the ability to right-click on the message view pane and select "Normal HTML" but then have the global default remain as it was (say, "Simple HTML") when switching to the next message. It's just irritating to have to change the global defaults, view the message, and then change them back. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

I agree with this bug report. There is no convenient method to keep images from loading in HTML e-mails and enable to load on a per-email basis. This functionality is already available in Webmails (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc). I find it a very important usability issue to be able to load images on demand, perhaps in the same way you click in a message for "This is not spam" (shown as a button when viewing an e-mail). See forum discussion http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=106689 for more.

That suggestion is in fact implemented as of TB 0.8, but it doesn't use the sanitizer. Scott, per your DUPEME, I've been looking for a dupe for per-message control of the Message Body As setting (still useful even with the new image blocking) but have only found one that's newer than this, which I'm duping over. Updating summary for a little more clarity.

Expanding on my comment at that dupe: ==== There are several bugs for making more settings per-folder (esp. bug 233109). There are several other settings which would be better selectable on a per- message basis -- that is, the normal setting in prefs/menus, but changing it for one message (i.e. via a toolbar, preferably a vertical one within the message pane): image blocking (bug 172184), Attachments Inline, wrap-long-lines, disable-format-flowed. Also View All Headers, I guess, altho I'd rather see that option removed in favor of using View Source. ====

Bug 261785 is the Thunderbird bug for per-folder Body As storage (same as Seamonkey bug 233109). But after yet another search, I don't see a dupe for the Per-Message override (which I hope would be in addition to the per-folder setting!) so I'm removing the DUPEME and confirming.
