It would be nice to have a mailinglist property for Folders (IMAP folders in my
case if this makes a difference).
What I'd like to have is similar to the KMail version of this feature. You can
specify that the folder contains a Mailinglist. You can enter the "posting
address" that is used as default when you write new messages or reply when this
folder is active (selected).
This would dramatically reduce the private mails that were intended to be in the
mailinglist instead.
I know that you can just click in the address field and enter the mailinglist
address or reply all and remove the posters address, but this is IMHO not very
userfriendly. It's similar to the "reply to Mailinglist" feature that I've
requested in the Debian BTS but it seems that it was not send to this upstream BTS.
Keep on the good work guys, thunderbird is awesome.

I agree, it would be indeed nice to have such a feature. Perhaps as a property
of and entire folder or (IMHO much better) by parsing the mail headers for a
'X-List' etc header and the automatically do a mailing list reply without need
for using reply all and then forget to erase the unwanted private adresses.
An alternative may be to implement a dropdown button for reply it there is one
for print and put this feature there? What do others think of this?

I think this is sufficient. There are many ways to implement the
mailinglist-reply functions. I like your suggestion :-)

Is there a chance this will be added soon? This is only major thing that I miss
in Thunderbird compared to KMail.

I also agree that support for mailinglists is not what it should be.
In evolution it is really easy.
2 things are missing in thunderbird for this:
- create filter on mailinglist
- reply to mailinglist or to mailinglist and sender
If creating filters for mailinglists and replying to mailinglist would be easy I
would switch from evolution right away. :(

Is there any progress in this feature? Will it be added to thunderbird (or an
extention)? It certainly would be a nice and very handy feature!
Thanks!

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

There is still no mailinglist handling in TB. The common list header are not parsed and there is no option Like I suggested in this bug report.
Please implement a proper way to deal with mailinglists. It's a pain in the a** to write to mailinglists that don't set the reply-to header.

The fact that this bug has been automatically "resolved" is absurd.
Please un-resolve it.
It's still a bug that really needs to be fixed.
I confirm it's a problem.
And were it not for the fact that Thunderbird is cross-platform and KMail is not (I use both Linux and Windows) I'd be using Kmail.
Mozilla.org should take a look at Kmail and implement all of the features it has that aren't already features in Thunderbird. It's a very efficient MUA.

If I read the in the new feature list you always talk about "Power Users". I think power users are people who deal with a lot of mails, especially in mailing lists. This is a major feature which is still missing in Thunderbird!
