Details

This bug actually incorporates two existing bug reports -- 8213 & 21781. But neither of those reports explicitly mentions using single signon (8213 talks about option to remember password and 21781 talks about use of a checkbox to specify that password should be remembered). Am opening this bug explicitly as a request for the use of single-signon so that it can be tracked for beta1. Changes to mailnews code are minor and have already been given to the mailnews team.
Oops, I just realized that I'm supposed to be adding the [beta1] notation to the keywords field and not the summary line. Correcting this.
Keywords: beta1
Summary: [beta1] Mailnews to use single-signon to remember passwords → Mailnews to use single-signon to remember passwords
We already have a bug for this. To your point about whether we should do this for B1, I think we should wait for B2 because: 1. We have a ton of B1 bugs to fix, and performance problems to improve. According to the B1 criteria, both performance and stability are more important than features. 2. Since we already have "remember password" functionality in mail, there isn't much user benefit to replacing one implementation with another for B1. I totally believe in single sign on, and agree that mail should integrate with it, but we just have bigger fish to fry for B1. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 18565 ***
