InDesign 1.0 offers full support for the OpenType 'liga' feature, which is to say it automatically uses any and all arbitrary, non-contextual ligatures which are intended to be on by default--though you can turn them off if you wish. InDesign 1.0 does not support 'dlig' (discretionary ligatures) or 'clig' (contextual ligatures). Note that contextual means a context outside of the characters being turned into a ligature. 'liga' alone is sufficient to handle multi-character ligatures from arbitrary numbers of characters. (There may be a limit, but I don't know offhand.)
