User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.8

Clicking on any of the File menu options to do with printing (print, print
preview or page setup) instantly hangs the browser. This happens on any page,
including about:blank. The browser must be killed via Task Manager, and the
Netscape Agent does not pop up. Also, waiting for five minutes did not improve
the situation.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open any page.
2. File -> Print/Page Setup/Print Preview

Actual Results:
Menu stays in place and browser freezes, and does not repaint.

Expected Results:
Should have brought up a print dialog instead.

The only printer installed on my system is a virtual printer, Jaws PDF creator.
It prints fine from other applications.
Would this by any chance be related to XP SP2? Some other people seem to be
having difficulties with it and printing from firefox.

See bug 257051.
It's very possible - I recently installed SP2.
Win 2K sp4 user... After crashing (multiple times over a period of days), I
opened IE and printed out the pages needed. The next time I tried to print from
Firefox, it worked. Coincidence?

Now I don't know what's going on. I just installed Office 2003, and now printing
appears to be working...

Firefox 20041001 Ver 0.10.1 has problems with the print preview of following page:

http://uta.at/ds?pagename=UTA/ProduktDetail/ProduktDetail&kat=fgf
[Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20041001 Firefox/0.10.1]
Bug is probably not restricted to XP and/or SP2.

With Firefox 1.0PR on Win98SE, print and print preview hangs with:
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/ (!)
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=node/view/88
http://uta.at/ds?pagename=UTA/ProduktDetail/ProduktDetail&kat=fgf (comment 6)

These are OK:
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=node/view/110
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=node/view/114

Related to bug 228647 ? (Hang of preview with testcase attachment 137510 [details] can
also be reproduced with Firefox)
Test from comment 7 repeated on WinXP SP1a:

Firefox 1.0PR hangs ("Progress: Preparing") on print and print preview:
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=node/view/5160
http://uta.at/ds?pagename=UTA/ProduktDetail/ProduktDetail&kat=fgf

These are OK:

http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=node/view/110
http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=node/view/114

I take that back: With the testcase+URL from bug 228647, both Mozilla and
Firefox hang, but only on print preview. Hang occurs after preview view is opened.
Using URLs above, only Firefox hangs, Mozilla (at least 1.8a4) print and print
preview are OK. Hang occurs before preview view is opened.
I had that problem -- using Windows XP version 5.1, Firefox browser crashed
INTERMITTENTLY when I printed from the Print Preview. Sometimes it did,
sometimes it didn't; unpredictable.

I thought it was because I was using a Brother HL-2060, which has no specific XP
drivers.

BUT, I changed the screen resolution on my monitor. No crashes/bombs of the
browser since I did that. Bombing when using Print Preview seems to me to be
screen-resolution related.
