The Readme pages are html and they display okay. However, when a link on a page points to our .EXE installation file, Firefox does not give us the Run/Save/Cancel choices like IE. We do not see how to set Firefox towork corectly. Is this a bug or a setting error? I will be happy to send you a CD ROM to try. Jerry Mercola jmercola@icselect.com Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Insert a CD ROM 2. Select Install 488.2 Driver 3. Follow steps to get to the Install_488_2_Driver.exe linlk onthe second page. Actual Results: Got a CMD window and not the expected Save/Run/Cancel choices Expected Results: IE type Run/Save/Cancel window for installing programs Contact me for a CD-ROM Jerry Mercola 925 416 1000 x 501 jmercola@icselect.com

You said you got a "CMD window" when you clicked the link to the .exe. Is that a Windows 2000 command prompt? Do you still see this bug if you upgrade from Firefox 0.9.2 to Firefox 1.0PR?
Summary: Foxfire does not install .exe. programs from CD-ROMs → Firefox does not install .exe programs from CD-ROMs
From email: Hello, It is a lot better in that clicking on the HTML page link to our installation.EXE program now brings up a window that allows you to save the file to the hard disk. However it does not allow you to run the installation program. I would like to sand you our CD along with the directions on how to repeat this bug so you can fix the problem. This is done on purpose as to not allow sites to do drive by installs of software by getting the user to click open. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 249604 ***

Not a dup of bug 249604.

I don't think Firefox should special-case CD-ROMs or other local drives, so IMO this is a dup of bug 204838. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 204838 ***
