It would be cool if I could empty the junk folder just like i empty trash
folder. This would have the affect of permanently deleting everything in the
junk folder. right now, one has to delete all the items from junk and then dump
them from the trash.

I'd like to see this on Windows (XP) too.
Maybe also a preference that specifies if the messages should be deleted
straight away or moved to the Trash.

Bug 189911 is the Core bug for implementing the backend part of this.

This is a very good feature that I would like to see too.
The junk folder should have the same "Empty Trash" but "Empty Junk" when right 
clicking on it.
