Power users like to have many tabs open, but with the tab bar can quickly become crowded with the standard horizontal layout of tabs. I would like to suggest an idea which has already been implemented in Web browsers like Galeon and Opera: vertical tabs. Here, tabs would travel down the side of a window instead of across the top. The orientation of the text on the tabs would not be changed: it would still run from left to right. To facilitate this feature, there should also be some way to restrict tab widths to a fixed size, either in pixels or in characters.
