User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8a4) Gecko/20040927 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8a4) Gecko/20040927 There is an ambiguity of the term "session cookies." Depending on the surrounding wording, it can be _interpreted_ by users (well, at least me :) ) to mean one of three things: 1) "cookies containing web page session ID's" 2) "the user asked to delete these cookies when the browser closes" 3) "the web server said discard this cookie when the browser closes" In most cases, Mozilla means #2, but the surrounding wording in the user interface doesn't always make that clear. The Confirm cookie setting dialog box is CLEAR: "Allow for session" The preferences dialog box's Cookie Lifetime Policy section is CLEAR: "accept for current session only" The menu it is AMBIGUOUS: Tools | Cookie Manager | Allow Session Cookies from this Site In the Cookie Manager, the Cookie Sites tab's status list is AMBIGUOUS: "site can set session cookies" "except for session cookies" You're probably thinking, "Okay, so what wording would be clearer?" Well, I'll have to think about this when I'm not so tired... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
fwiw if the user selects "allow session cookies only", then mozilla will downgrade all cookies to session cookies
