User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041103 Firefox/1.0RC2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041103 Firefox/1.0RC2 Thunderbird version 0.9 (20041103) Migrating my wife from Outlook Express to Thunderbird 0.9 on Windows XP. Her address book is organised in folders to group addresses of various types together, and wants this arrangement to get carried over to Thunderbird. From reading on the net not even OE can manage this when moving an address book from one machine to another, the fix suggested there is to put every address from a folder into a "group" (basically an email list) and these apparently translate well from OE to OE. However, when Thunderbird version 0.9 (20041103) imports the OE address book the group names are imported OK, but they are all blank, none contain any addresses. All the addresses import OK from what we can tell, but in one great flat lump with no organisation. :-( Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create address book as described above 2. Import that into Thunderbird version 0.9 (20041103) (and 0.8) 3. See the address book with empty groups in it. Actual Results: Addresses import OK but there the address groups are empty. Expected Results: The groups should have been populated with addresses. Web page with details about problems transferring OE address book from a Windows machine to another Windows machine (and the source of the idea of using address groups to solve the fact that folders don't translate). http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,162958,00.asp

It is a duplicate, I'd spent an hour or more going through Thunderbird bug reports trying to find something that looked like that with no success before submitting it, don't know how I missed it. Sorry! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 222774 ***
