Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Firefox can't find files opened from the operating system when it is located in a japanese named folder or a subfolder located in a japanese named parent folder This is pretty serious because it means all files saved anywhere on the desktop for Japanese OS's cannot be opened by firefox by double clicking on it since the desktop folder is in japanese (デスクトップ) I haven't noticed this problem with previous versions of firefox so I suspect it was introduced in 1.0 with the new tab preferences in the advanced section. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Create a folder with a Japanese name or use an existing one 2.Create a new html file in the folder 3.Open file with firefox by double clicking on it. Actual Results: The file cannot be found error message pops up and nothing is opened. Expected Results: The file should have been opened by firefox.
Summary: File opened Japanese folder cannot be found → File opened from Japanese folder cannot be found
I also found out that there is no problem with opening the file while firefox is closed. It only occurs while opening the file with firefox already opened. Again, this points to the new settings for opening links from other applications as the culprit.
