Typically, I would like to be able to exclude the tittle button in the
addressing widget in Message Compose form the tabbing chain. I would like to
jump from the select element directly to the next input field when I press tab.

We have the CSS property. Tabbing just hasn't been taught to honor it.

I have a workaround in my tree that I can check in (without having to fix this
bug in M14). Once that workaround is checked in, I'll explain it in this bug
and then move this bug off to M15.

Workaround checked in. XUL now supports a new tag, called <image> stylable via
CSS, that you can use in place of titledbutton. It won't be tabbed to.
