It would be great if when using IMAP one could specify an option saying "queue
outgoing messages to send later" with an additional menu and toolbar item
called "send/receive all" that triggers Thunderbird to refresh all folders AND
send any queued messages; this would require that queued outgoing messages be
stored locally in the "Unsent Messages" folder until the command to send has
been given, this makes it easier to manage the application over problem
internet connections and slow lines and gives one the opportunity to "go back"
and fix something in an e-mail after they've hit send but before the e-mail
has actually been sent; setup Outlook Express and configure to only send on
command and you'll see what I mean, it is a very useful way to configure the e-
mail agent, one way to trigger this behavior is to specify zero in the "check
for new messages every" option box

(Changed summary to reflect that this isn't just an IMAP issue)
This reasonable request from a happy TB user on IRC: "Add the ability to queue
message by default so that they can be sent when new mail is downloaded, instead
of always sending immediately."
Holding mail for batch send is a pretty common user requirement, for purposes of
bandwidth saving over slow connections, and also to support some people's style
of writing messages in a batch and then reviewing before hitting send.
Could be implemented by adding an option to "Queue mail locally before sending"
which, when checked, and when locally queued mail exists, changes the "get mail"
button to "send/get mail"
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Summary: request: IMAP needs a "queue to send" function -- similar to Outlook Express → Add "queue to send" function (similar to Outlook, Eudora)

This is similar to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=362063 but not exactly. Added tis idea to the other bug as they are so similar.

I hope this feature have to allow not only to make send by manual-initiated batches, but set a time every mail have to wait in temporary box until it can go away.
Often I remember to add or correct something important to mail I sent 1-3 minutes ago.
Or it have to be another bug?
