Product: Browser → Seamonkey
I see this behavior with:
Mozilla 1.7.1 - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.1) Gecko/20040707
I use Adobe acrobat reader 5.0 as a helper application (In reply to comment #1)
Note: The Mozilla Navigator freezes until the pdf has fully downloaded. Then
Adobe Acrobat Reader becomes the active window. After that, the Navigator again
is responsive.
During the non-responsive time, all of the other Mozilla suite applications
(mail, calendar...) are responsive, but even if I use "Open (pdf) in a new
Window", none of the other navigator windows respond.
This bug is mostly a nuisance, but still, I find it very irritating.
(In reply to comment #3)
Oops! The other Mozilla Suite apps don't respond either - at least not during
the whole download period.
N.B: I notice similar freezing when I save the file to disk, without using the
helper application, so I can't use that technique as a workaround.
It seems to me that a long time ago, there were mozilla versions that did not
exhibit this delay.

I experience the identical problem on iMac G5/OS X 10.4.3 and G4/OS X 10.4.3... can't open OR save PDF attachments: Browser freezes and must be "forced-quit" to escape and continue...
