Other mail programs (especially Outlook) allow to alter the contents of an email and I find this feature almost essencial. I find Thunderbird very good for handling IMAP, but I still depend on Outlook once a month to do cleansing of rubbish and "deattachement" of pictures and other files, before archiving in proper folders.
