Details
seen with trunk Mozilla builds
-New Profile
-go to a site that that has popups (tested with cnn.com and orbitz.com)
tested results:
The popup appears and goes to the background, then the dialog to manage popups
appears. Select Yes to the dialog and okay in the allowed sites dialog. The
popup that was served remains. All subsequent popups are blocked.
expected results:
The initial popup is blocked, unless the site is added as allowed to display
popups.
I believe this maybe is a regression, but won't ark it so until I attempt to
track down a regression window. I haven't tested Moz Trunk regularly for quite
some time.
perhaps bug 218336 would fix this?

This has been around since at least 1.7
I think the desirable behavior here would be to supress the initial popup until
the user decides what to do. If they decide to turn on popup blocking and don't
allow the site, then the popup should not appear. If they decide to block
popups and allow the site, then the popup should appear. If they decide not
turn on popup blocking, then the popup should appear.

Seamonkey v1.8, on Win98
I get an unrequested popup EVERY time I visit snopes.com -- it's of the type that appears the first time you click ANYWHERE on the Snopes page. The only way to prevent this is to disable javascript prior to visiting the site.
I also get unrequested popups from abcnews.go.com, both randomly and of what seem to be the "onclick" type.
Also, the onclick type's contents are not blocked at all by my HOSTS file, tho the other type usually come up as a blank window if the site is in HOSTS.
OTOH I don't get any popup at all from humorsearch.com
I first encountered this bug in Mozilla v1.7 or thereabouts.
