1) If I browse into a site that requires a Java Plugin, the Java will load up
and stay persistent until I close out all my Firefox Windows. This is a big
deal to me because I usually leave many browser windows open at different times.
I do nto want to close out my older browser sessions. While I can save my all
my Firefox sessions and close it all out, then reload the sessions, this is
really annoying. If I could spawn Firefox instances on demand, then I could
open a new Firefox instance / process and if I run into a Java site, no problem.
I close out that FireFox instance and my old existing FireFox windows are A-OK.
I do this with Internet Explorer all the time and it works great! This isn't a
bash on Firefox, just that I think Firefox can stand to improve even more!
(It's doing a great job already so far).
2) I want to login twice to the same banking website with different accounts.
While a banking website could be designed to handle this ... I can currently do
it fine with Internet Explorer simply by calling up two IE instances. With
Firefox, since it shares the session cookies... this is not possible. I just
want an option to let me open a new process on demand so I can just load up two
Firefoxes to login to the same bank with different login credentials. The
applications here do not end with just banking websites. Web development
testing is effected, sometimes stock brokerage sites... etc.
I tried opening multiple profiles to see if I could run two different profiles
at once on the same computer. But, when I try to load up the profile manager,
what ends up happening is it simply reloads another firefox window. (I can try
fiddling with this a bit more).
Please note, duplicate tab, new windows, none of these offer me the same
features as described here. IE supports this now. I think Firefox can easily
supercede this. I would write an extension, but I am not skilled enough and I
think the problem might be at the application startup area.
I think the best solution would be some command line flag. firefox -newspawn.
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!
