will sunbird launch reminders (alarms) without the need to open the actual program? example: to be given an alarm for an event within thunderbird, using the calendar as an installed extension, one has to launch calendar. if thunderbird and sunbird are to be in direct competition to ms outlook, event reminders (alarms) should be able to launch without the need of starting the actual calendar extension within thunderbird. i currently use thunderbird and we have implemented thunderbird as our email-client standard, but when it comes to calendaring, many do not use the extension because they are forced to "manually" launching the calendar extension to get their alarms for inputted events. best of luck to you all in your awesome race to knock ms products out of the common desktop!
