Hi, I'm using the last release of Mozilla FireFox at home and at work. My problem have been encountered at work after closing a window of Mozilla Firefox where i have done the configuration of a Cisco Firewall. The Cisco configurator use Java. I've updated the java platform, re-installed firefox but the problem is still present. In fact, the Firefox window is closed but, in taskmanager, firefox.exe is still here, java tray icon too, and i can't open a new window of Firefox before killing the firefox.exe. Thanks. Bye. Sorry for my English, i'm a French guy :o

Summary: FireFox Blocking → Firefox process stays in memory, cannot open new windows
I have seen this behavior on XP, and Windows2K also - closing FF and being told that it's already open the next time I try to use it. It is perhaps related to the clumsy memory management: FF uses 100% of the CPU capacity (as reported by the Task Manager) when doing something simple like changing already-loaded tabs. It hangs for 1-10 seconds, sucking up 100% of the available CPU cycles, then does the change. The amount of memory the process is using increases steadily over time as I use FF. It starts with about 14,000K and rises constantly. Closing tabs and windows does not release all the memory it has grabbed: if you go back to one window with one tab you never get back all the RAM that was used. I had 3 windows with 2-5 tabs in each open, using 110,800K. I closed all but this one, and it is still taking 88,320K to write this bug comment.
Happened exactly the same to me, with Win2K.

Same exact for me, too. Even keeps some other programs from running, too. Only specific one I can think of off hand was the install program for Basilisk II JIT. Windows XP SP2. Same problem on XP SP1 on my Thinkpad, too.
Same here, using Gecko/20050119 Firefox/1.0+. Tabs working fine. Using default theme.
