Opened Thunderbird not realizing disk was full. Opened fine and displayed two messages indicating disk may be full. Closed Thunderbird. Removed unrelated files to get 2.2GB disk space. Re-opened Thunderbird which then re-downloaded 200+ messages left on server. It seems that T-bird 'forgot' that these messages were already downloaded, perhaps by corrupting a file containing that info before realizing the disk was full. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set "Leave messages on server" 2. Put some messages on server, start Thunderbird so it gets these messages. 3. Fill disk (actually /home partition) entirely then start Thunderbird 4. Close Thunderbird 5. Make room on disk then start Thunderbird 6. Thunderbird re-downloads messages Actual Results: Thunderbird downloaded messages from server that were already downloaded Expected Results: Thunderbird should have remembered that those messages were already downloaded, and thus not downloaded them a second time. I have not tried to reproduce this problem, but it seems pretty straightforward.

I fill up the partition my profile is on all the time, and see this every time (I only keep mail on pop for 1 day, though). There's a bunch of different "this and that lost on disk full" bugs already, but I don't see one about this specifically yet. Would this be solved by just using a temporary file for writing popstate.dat and then moving it to the destination if successful? That sounds like it should at least preserve the valid information from before.
