Launching Thunderbird results in a small window with some XUL code. No mail
window, no nothing. Just white box with some XUL.

I did. I searched for "start", "xul start", "startup", "launch" and nothing came
up. But, you're right, I should have noticed that a bug marked Linux only and
stating that the build was "useless" in the summary was actually this bug.
