In Windows, the "Preferences..." menu item, which is called "Options..." instead of "Preferences...", is within "Tools" menu, at the end of it. But in Linux, this menu item is still within "Edit" menu just like before. So it needs to change its name and move it to keep the consistency between platforms. On the other hand, if an extension relies on the position or name of this menu item, it might not work as expected.

This bug is invalid. Firefox trys to conform to the HIG for the platform it is built for. Gnome's HIG says that prefrences should be in the edit menu http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/2.0/menus-standard.html#menu-standard-edit Windows HIG specifies that the tools menu should contain options. I can't find the exact spot on MSDN right now. Yes, I've searched before reporting this bug. When I used "option preference" as keywords, I've got more than 100 results. After reading tens of them and haven't found any, I added linux as keyword but still got 40 or 50 something. Then I've spent 15 minutes reading some of them but still nothing relevant. That's why I report it. Or am I supposed to spend 2 hours before??? I didn't change the status to NEW, maybe because of my profile.
