User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2 Build Identifier: version 1.0.2 (20050317) Currently it appears Thunderbird, when performing an autocomplete address lookup, searches through your local address books in the order in which they are displayed in the address book manager. The first problem is that the user can't change the display order from the UI, but that is addressed in bug #158062, bug #275485, and bug #272940. The second problem is that the user may wish the lookup order to be different from the display order. This is what this bug report intends to address. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. On a fresh install, with just a "Personal Address Book" (pab) and "Collected Addresses" (history)... a. select "Personal Address Book" and create a new card: nickname: user email: pab@example.com b. select "Collected Addresses" and create a new card: nickname: user email: history@example.com 2. In the main window click on "Write" 3. In the "To:" field enter "user" Actual Results: The address "pab@example.com" is the first listed autocomplete choice. Expected Results: As expected, but there is no way through the configuration UI to alter the order of the returned results. Because the look-up order is currently tied to the display order, you can work around this problem by manually reordering your address books. See bug #275485 Comment #2. I have not experimented with non-local address books.
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. following the lead of bug 64662 which is WONTFIX, and with Bryan's blessing, this bug is also WONTFIX. The current selection criteria is PopularityIndex. If other selection criteria are wanted then an extension is needed.
