When I try to go offline-with-synchronize in thunderbird 1.0.2 where one of my
IMAP servers is not available, I get a "could not connect to mail server xxxx"
error message. But I get it 4 times!

I'd guess thunderbird is configured to open up to 4 on the folders on that IMAP
server simultaneously and that's why there are 4 popups - but it really just
needs the one.

Could the error popup code be changed to not do it again if there is already an
existing error box up about the same situation?

Better yet, how about an option of not even reporting an error and just going
offline - like Outlook XP does. Laptop users like me are on a network - off a
network all the time - we know the network comes and goes - we don't need
reminding :-)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. point IMAP at non-existant (down) IMAP server
2. go offline with "Download" option
3. watch popup after popup of "could not connect" appear

This bug has been automatically resolved after a period of inactivity (see above

This bug should be reopened. I see similar problems when a server becomes unavailable (e.g. net connection goes offline). You should only get one popup.

What you describe here is bug 123440 though (connection to server disrupted).
This one is about going offline on purpose, if I understood the description correctly (otherwise it would be a duplicate).
