User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050402
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050402
When attempting to forward a message with a specified background color, the
background color appears as white. This is particulary annoying when the text in
the message is white.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Receive a message with a background color
2. Try to forward it or edit-as-new to send it back out
3.
Actual Results:
The background color is white
Expected Results:
The background color should be that of the original email.

Edit as New on an HTML message is preserving the color for me.
Forward Inline (I assume you're forwarding Inline, rather than As Attachment) on
an HTML message does forward only some of the formatting of the original
message, but I don't see the problem with "white text on white background"
because the original message's text color is also not maintained.
Can you provide a sample message that exhibits the problem? (Save as a .EML
file and attach to this bug using the Create New Attachment link, above.)

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

This should be re-opened. Even the most trivial examples always fail.
Attached is a simple message created in SeaMonkey 1.0.7. on XP. If you read it, the background is yellow. If you then "edit as new" the background turns white.

If you read this email created in seamonkey, the background is yellow. But when you "edit as new" or forward inline, the background goes white.

Tested with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008032702 Thunderbird/3.0a1pre ID:2008032702
Edit as new always retains the background color for me, however a case can be made for forward inline, which does drop the background color, but retains the font color. White text on white background can result.
The same case can be made for html replies which also drop the background color while retaining the font colors.

CC wsmWK as Tomcat suggested he might know of a "special case" bug for this.

Confirm comment #6: this issue is WFM because when reply\forward a message, TB use personal settings in menu-->tools-->options tab Composition-->general.
John please try with lastest TB at
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-comm-1.9.1/ ?
and feel free to reopen this bug if I'm wrong.
