To understand this clearly, pretend you have no use of a mouse/pointing device
(not unusual for some users dealing with certain physical challenges).
- Navigate to "http://www.mozilla.org/support"
- Press the tab key on the keyboard about 14 times until "Online Documentation"
has the focus
- Press the Enter key on the keyboard to navigate to the page
- Press Alt-Left on the keyboard to back-up a page
- Notice that "Online Documentation" no longer has the focus - you will need to
press tab on the keyboard about 14 times (again) to get "Online Documentation"
to have the focus
Try this exercise in another major browsers. Notice that the "Online
Documentation" link retains the focus.
For most users, this is not an issue. Mousing-at-will to links is the norm.
However, to users wholly dependant on keyboard input, this is a very serious
issue. It may not be clearly apparent in this example, but this difference makes
FireFox very difficult to use for users not able to access a pointing device.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Navigate to "http://www.mozilla.org/support"
2.Press the tab key on the keyboard about 14 times until "Online Documentation"
has the focus
3.Press the Enter key on the keyboard to navigate to the page
4. Press Alt-Left on the keyboard to back-up a page
Actual Results:
Notice that "Online Documentation" no longer has the focus - you will need to
press tab on the keyboard about 14 times (again) to get "Online Documentation"
to have the focus
Expected Results:
Still have "Online Documentation" in focus.
