User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3
If a page with a drop-down box with many items is clicked on, the menu will
always open down, sometimes causing a portion of the menu to be displayed off
the screen. The menu should open toward the center of the screen, or at least
realign itself so that all the menu items are visible
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to a website with a form that has a large drop-down box
2. Maximize the Firefox window and move it so that the drop down box is near the
bottom of the screen
3. Open the drop down box
Actual Results:
The menu items were displayed offscreen
Expected Results:
The menu items should all be shown onscreen.
Fonts set at 125% in Windows, probably not related but I saw some other bugs
about it.

Component: OS Integration → General
Paul,
Could you create a minimal testcase by saving the problematic page to disk and
editing out any unneeded content?
Keep rockin' out for communism.

Unfortunately, I can't save the actual page because all I get in both MSIE and
Firefox is empty frames / nonsense. I made a test page that shows the same
issue however from stealing some HTML from the Bugzilla page.
This may be a similar issue to bug 241192.
For the record, I tried normal and 125% fonts at 1024x768 and 800x600 with
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511
Firefox/1.0.4
and could not reproduce the bug. Is there anything else in your configuration
that might cause this?

The only thing that I could think of is that I have multiple monitors arranged
in the following configuration:
/--------------\
| | /----------\
| | | |
| 2 | | 1 |
| 1280x1024 | | 1024x768 |
| | \----------/
\--------------/
Ah ha! When Firefox is maximized in display 2 is when I noticed it. It appears
that the correct behavior occurs when Firefox is on display 1 maximized.
-> Renamed bug to be more accurate
Summary: Drop-down boxes with many items do not open the correct direction → Drop-down boxes with many items do not open the correct direction in certain multiple monitor configurations
Should have known you'd have something like that set up. Nice deduction.
