If firefox is installed and another application has taken the file association
for html files and the protocol associations for http then the only way to
change the associations back to firefox is either to wade into the windows
filetypes yourself (something that is a pain in the neck to do) or get IE or
something to set itself as the default browser so you can then tell firefox to
set itself as the default browser and thus set all the file associations correctly.

At basic this could be a simple button that restores the necessary file
associations to firefox. Ideally it would be a little child preferences that
allows you to select which file associations you want for firefox.
