User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050720 Firefox/1.0+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050720 Firefox/1.0+ I've noticed this for a long time, but finally decided to submit a bug. Did a search, and found no similar bugs. When placing the text input cursor in the "search" box of Wikipedia, on some pages the cursor has a mysterious two pixel extension. This happens on the main page, community portal, current events, and the help & contact pages, but not in entries, or the recent changes page. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Goto http://en.wikipedia.org 2. Place cursor in the "search" text box 3. See weird two-pixel extension on the cursor. Actual Results: Weird two-pixel-extension cursor appeared. Expected Results: 1px cursor is seen.

Sorry, I couldn't find an image program that didn't try some basic anti-aliasing of stretched images.
I've confirmed it on a standard build of Firefox 1.0.5, with the same results. Both were with fresh profiles, with no extensions. I can't seen to reproduce this on any other non-Wikimedia Foundation MediaWiki-based sites. It can be see at http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Fundraising and http://en.wikiquote.org.
I have indeed seen this. I thought for sure it would have been filed already, but I can't find a dupe for the life of me. Confirming. A minimized testcase that reproduces this consistently would be useful here. Just stripping stuff away from http://en.wikipedia.org until it no longer is reproducable should do.

I made a testcase for this in a bug sometime ago, didn't find it yet by searching for URL wikipedia. Reason for that cursor was that in the list of links for selecting the language were two RTL links, arabic and hebrew.
Bug 288839 ltr caret in input field unexpected (directional caret appears when only ltr input methods are installed) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 288839 ***
