Gmail has this nice feature in its interface.

image blocking is on by default but when images are loaded in a message, the
user has the option to "always allow images from this domain"

kind of nice....

I get mails with images in each day from essentially trusted sites and every day
i must display the images ineach mail.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

Actual Results:
Feature Request!

Expected Results:
allowed domains to have images loaded and not blocked.
You mean like what was just implemented in bug 300834?
that's part of it, but I think the reporter also wants a UI for doing this, by
example.

Indeed. This idea has been discussed in that bug activity however a quote from
Scott MacGregor sums it up

"we won't be adding any UI to end users for this."

Is that the end of that then?
Someone could write an extension for this...I would find it very useful myself.

If it's possible to achieve this with an extension then i'll gladly give it a go.

i've never written a mozilla extension before so can somebody please point me at
which bits of the source or relavent hooks or API I should look at....

is there an extension writing guide/dummy extension available for starters?
