Hello? I filed this bug a while back, but have yet to hear from anyone.
Ok. Let's go through this. 0) http://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Home_Page 1) http://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Localizing_Overview 2) http://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Updating_Localizations_in_CVS 4) http://lxr.mozilla.org/l10n/source/ Before we will be able to grant you access to our CVS you must prove that you know what you're doing. So the first thing we need is a zip package with part or full localization of Firefox browser in the form used in our CVS (link 4) attached to this bug. Then we can make a review and decide what to do next.
OK, I'm a total newbie, but I figure I will have a zipped localization ready to submit in the next few months. In the meantime, to avoid duplication of effort, how can I get the Latin team registered (sans CVS or a locale) at http://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Localization_Teams ? (Or do I still need to present a zipped partial l10n first?)

Dear Latin mates, if there is aleady something in progress, could we try to join our efforts? I would be ready to start working together on the files to translate. And still, for the Mozilla localization team, should we provide any zipped package, before the new Latin group is accredited on the site? Thanks Daniele Lucchini
Ok, I've just started the localization of Mozilla Application Suite. I'm using MozillaTranslator v.5.03, and following the guidelines Zbigniew indicated. Any feedback from the 'Latin mates' is welcomed.
Note that the suite is not dealt with by this bug, as there are no official localizations of the suite in the first place, and seamonkey is not there yet at all. This is not a commitment to have official localizations of Firefox and Thunderbird in latin. We need to come up with some scheme for locales like this that is less work for release and QA.
I'm sorry. Actually it's really clearly written in the bug subject... my mistake. I'm taking a step backward, and start working on Firefox (sic!), always following the guidelines. I promise next time I'll read twice what I'm writing about, before submitting a message :) Daniele
(In reply to comment #7) > and seamonkey is not there yet > at > all. Well, depends on what you count as "being there", but SeaMonkey 1.0 Beta is bascially L10n-frozen for 1.0 final, and we'd be happy about any L10n effort of it...
Hi Daniele, We have a team of 4 Latinists, so far. Our focus is not on speed, here, but quality of translation. After all, it's Latin, so we don't have any native speakers breaking down the door. The audience for this project will primarily be high school and college students of Latin, and professional classicists. As such, it's important that it be correct. For the students, our hope is that it will function as a pedagogical tool. As for the expert Latinists, we'd like them to get a kick out of it, rather than want to kick it. In the interest of producing a well-translated Latin localization, I've set up an online tool to discuss translations of the more common strings. Let me know if you're interested in this kind of project. Ka'ala
Hi Ka'ala, I agree with you when you talk about quality, above all, as you say, because we are short of native spakers :) I am happy I could finally get in touch with the starter of this localization project, as I would not have loved making a duplication of your alreay done work. So, I would thank you for explaining me how to begin to collaborate, even through your online discussion tool. Daniele
Summary: New firefox l10n registration: Latin → [la] Latin: Firefox
On behalf of the Mozilla Project, I'd like to apologise for the delay in processing this request. We very much appreciate offers of help in localization. If anyone reading this is still interested in helping to translate one or more Mozilla products into the language that this bug is about, please add a new comment to this bug to confirm your interest, saying again which products you would like to localize e.g., Firefox, Thunderbird. We will then make the necessary arrangements.
No response after a month; closing the bug as INCOMPLETE. If anyone reading this is interested in localising Mozilla products into this language, we'd love to hear from you! Please file a new bug about it. Thanks, Gerv
