User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050909 Fedora/1.0.6-1.2.fc4 Firefox/1.0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050909 Fedora/1.0.6-1.2.fc4 Firefox/1.0.6 This isn't so much a bug report as a request for the site to clarify something that I'm a little concerned about. There are a lot of funky and groovy extensions on the Mozilla site, but I can't find anything that clarifies whether anyone at Mozilla vets these extensions for and nasty pieces of spyware bundled inside, and if not, and you download extensions at your own risk, what it is you are risking. I know that open-source experts may know exactly what we're doing, but if Firefox is ever to appeal to the hordes of terminally stupid people currently using Internet Explorer, you're going to have problems is they start downloading spyware-ridden extensions from the Firefox site and then blame it on Firefox. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. See an extension and thing "Ooh, this looks good." 2. Download it. 3. Try it out. Actual Results: Hope there's no spyware in it. Expected Results: Preferably assured me that the extension has been vetted and does not contain any nasty viruses or the like. Failing that, warned me of the worst that could happen. I know that open-source experts may know exactly what we're doing, but if Firefox is ever to get the hordes of terminally stupid people away from Internet Explorer, the last thing you want is them to all download the same spyware-laden entensions from the site and blame it on Firefox.
