Since two days ik keep receiving 42 emails that i allready received, read and
deleted in 2004. I manage to delete them and then empty the trash-can but they
keep returning in the inbox thereby slowing down the system.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. close Thunderbird
2. start Thunderbird
3. delete old messages that keep coming in the inbox as new unread messages
4. empty trash
Actual Results:
The deleted messages keep appearing as new messages
Expected Results:
Permanently delete these messages

Which version of thunderbird? Does it still occur in 1.5beta2?
You can also try right-clicking the inbox and compacting it.

Yes i have installed the latest version today and compacted the folder. I'm
thinking about exporting the whole bunch and reinstalling the software.

Appears to be a dupe of bug 151440.

This is happening to me as well. It started a few days ago. I've even deleted all my trash, removing most of my inbox and it still happens. Each and every time I check for new mail, I receive the same 25 messages that were first deleted in 2004. Please help!
