But I found that mozilla based applications don't support the utf-8 encoded localized font name provided by fontconfig. All font names, which contain characters outside latin1 range, become garbage. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.apply patch from bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=128930 to fontconfig. 2.install a font with localized name, for example "AR PL SungtiL GB" (gbsn00lp.ttf). 3.run firefox in corresponding locale (zh_CN). 4.open the font configuration dialog and you could see the garbage font names. Actual Results: The localized font names become garbage. Expected Results: The localized font names should be displayed correctly.

You can see that the localized font names couldn't be displayed correctly.

OpenOffice could display those localized font names correctly.

Is this true in the current development builds - I know quite a bit of work has been done in general on UTF-8 support.

I confirmed that firefox 1.5beta2 doesn't have this issue.
