User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 after a bad windows bluescreen of death I lost all my bookmarks in firefox (FF) it only happened into one pc here (2 times) - not in all pc's I'm not sure if it's a real FF bug, neither if FF caused the windows crash, but I wanna report it anyway to try to improve FF Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce Actual Results: lost all bookmarks and the Bookmarks Toolbar Folder my sugestion: what you think about FF make some automatic backup of all bookmark information? it also can be auto restored by FF in the case of no bookmarks and the backup with some inside it. lost the 2 copy of it are mutch harder to happen. btw, I have it saved into a file and my loss are small. ----------- looking at the text on this page of report a bug about how to report "Good example: After a crash which happened when I was sorting in the Bookmark Manager, all of my top-level bookmark folders beginning with the letters Q to Z are no longer present." I guess the bookmark routines cause problems not only to me. regards
There is already a backup file that's automatically generated; it's in the same directory as the main file, and named bookmarks.bak Not sure why yours didn't restore...
Since Bug 298943 is fixed it is advisable to use 1.5 b2. It also creates automatically daily bookmarksbackups. If you prefer 1.0.7 you could use an extension like Bookmark Backup: http://www.pikey.me.uk/mozilla/
Creating daily backups was done in bug 218636. Dup of bug 218636 or bug 298943. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 218636 ***
