User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; fi-FI; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050919 Firefox/1.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; fi-FI; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050919 Firefox/1.0.7 I have experienced this same bug with all the Firefox versions I have used. The latest one I use is version 1.0.7. I have Windows 2000 Pro with latest service packs. I have finnish (scandinacian) keybord. I have lots of self written html-pages and downloaded html pages on my hard drive. If I would like to open a specific html-file in Firefox I always find it with Windows Explorer and then double click the file. If the file path includes Scandinavian letters (they are ä, Ä, ö, Ö, å and Å, in other words: å or ä ä or ö or Å or Ä or Ö) then I get the error message that Firefox can not find the file. I have finnish version of Firefox and therefore the error message says for example: "Tiedostoa /d:/temp/kansi%F6/index.html ei löydy. Tarkista sen sijainti ja yritä uudelleen." In the previous example my file index.html was in the folder d:\temp\kansiö. Also if the filename inculed scandinavian letters the same error message will appear. If I try to open the file in firefox by choosing CTRL + o to open the file, locate it and click it then it will open without problems. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Save a html file on your hard disk. 2. Make sure that the path to the file contains scandinavian letter(s). 3. Double click the file on windows explorer. Actual Results: An error message saying (in finnish): "Tiedostoa /d:/temp/kansi%F6/index.html ei löydy. Tarkista sen sijainti ja yritä uudelleen." In english that error message means that Firefox couldn't locate the file. Still firefox opens a new window with a blank white page. Expected Results: Open the file. -Finnish (=scandinavian) keyboard
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051119 Firefox/1.5 ID:2005111903 WFM. Made a folder on my desktop with the name äÄöÖåÅ, put a website in it, doubleclicked the html and it opened normally. OS WinXP Dutch language; international keyboard.
This was fixed, but only for FF 1.5 and Trunk. So please upgrade to FF 1.5 to fix it. FF 1.0.x will never get that patch. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 263570 ***
